Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus), Prescott Valley, Yavapai County

This Neotropic Cormorant was discovered and photographed by Scott and Debbie Rasmussen on 28 March 2009 at about 3:30 in the afternoon at Fain Park in Prescott Valley, AZ.

Accidental in Yavapai County. Only 1-2 records in the last decade in the county.

Note the small, pointed gular pouch, white line behind the gular pouch, feathered loral, long tail, and uniform dark brown underparts.  See here for more information about Neotropic Cormorant identification.
