Eastern Winter Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes hiemalis), Upper Madera Canyon, Pima CountyThis
probable Eastern Winter Wren was discovered and photographed by Laurens Halsey on 01 February 2009
in Madera Canyon along the Super Trail approximately 3/4 mile from the
trailhead. For discussion of the status and identification of Eastern Winter Wren see earlier post here. Overall lighter, more brownish (less rufous), lighter throat (particularly the chin) and more whitish spots on scapulars
and back than typical on a Pacific Winter Wren, the more common form in Arizona.
