Broad-billed Hummingbird (Cynanthus latirostris), Tres Rios Wetlands, Maricopa CountyThis
female Broad-billed Hummingbird was discovered and photographed by Tommy DeBardeleben on 12 June 2009
at the Tres Rios Wetlands. This bird was on the riparian like trail to the right of the two ponds when you enter the entrance gate. The trail is past the first pond you see going downward into dense riparian habitat, and it goes beneath the level of the ponds. The Broad-billed Hummingbird was by an interpretive sign that says "Gooding
Willow". Broad-billed Hummingbird is casual in Maricopa County,
especially during summer. Red on bill, blue tail feathers, long
grayish eye stripe.
