Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus), Willow Tank, Cochise County

This juvenile Hooded Merganser was photographed by Rich Hoyer on 06 August 2009.

This is probably the first summer record of this species for Arizona, notwithstanding a previous 1890 specimen that may be mislabeled (see Monson and Phillips 1981).
