Red Knot (Calidris canutus), Glendale Recharge Basin, Maricopa County

This alternate plumaged Red Knot was discovered and photographed by Charles Babbitt on 07 August 2009 and was photographed again by Pete Moulton on 8 August 2009.  . 

Red Knot is a casual fall transient in Arizona.  Its worldwide population is seriously declining. 

Stocky, medium sized shorebird with reddish underparts and stout, straight bill.
