Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula), Anza Trail, Tubac, Santa Cruz County

This adult male Baltimore Oriole was found and photographed by Dave Stejskal on 16 October 2009 about 500 yards south of the Santa Cruz River bridge just east of Tubac.  It was associating with a large mixed flock in the canopy of the riparian woodland adjacent to the Santa Cruz River.

Baltimore Oriole is a casual migrant across Arizona with about 15 records.  Most of the state records come from the late April-June period while fall records are very few and usually from September. This individual represents the first documented October report for the state.

Unmistakable in this plumage.
