Bobolink (Dolichonyx oryzivorus), Nature Conservancy Property at Dudleyville, Pinal County

This Bobolink was discovered and photographed by Matthew Brooks on 17 October 2009 on Nature Conservancy property that is closed to the public, but was relatively close to Liz's Grove on the adjacent Double Check Ranch.  This fall plumaged bird was in an area of high weeds, loosely associating with a large flock of White-crowned Sparrows.

Casual fall transient in SE Arizona.  Fewer than 25 records in all and few recent records.

Quite yellow overall, with a clear yellow breast and black-barring along the flanks. Clearly marked black eyeline. Sharp, short squeaky call note.
