Red Phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius), Pasture Canyon Reservoir, Coconino CountyThis Red Phalarope was
discovered and photographed by Brian Gatlin on 09 October 2009 at Pasture Canyon
Reservoir in northern Arizona. Red Phalarope is a casual fall migrant, particularly in northern Arizona. With good views, identification is straightforward. Red Phalarope is the only phalarope with a stout bill. The plain gray unstreaked back also help set it apart from Red-necked Phalarope.
