Ruddy Ground-Dove (Columbina talpacoti), Roger Road WRF, Pima County

This is possibly the same Ruddy Ground-Dove was discovered by John Yerger and Gavin Bieber across the Santa Cruz River channel south of Columbus Park on 03 October 2009. It was photographed by Andrew Core on 14 October 2009 at the Roger Road Treatement Plant.

Flew from Sweetwater Wetlands to Roger Road WRF, where I tracked it down to get these photos. First spotted by John Yerger and Gavin Bieber

A rare visitor to southern and central Arizona.  After a few years with a paucity of records, it has been reported regularly again in the last couple of years.

Overall bright rufous color with bluish head; tail red and black with no white in corners (see 2nd photo); no scaling on head, neck or chest.
