Blackpoll Warbler (Dendroica striata), Sweetwater Wetlands, Pima County

This Blackpoll Warbler was discovered by Justin Jones on 14 November 2009 and photographed by Rick Taylor that day, by Tyler Loomis on 15 November 2009 and by Dave Stejskal on 16 November.

Blackpoll Warbler is a casual transient in Arizona with around 20 total records.  This is one of the later reports for this species in the state.

Wingbars, eyeline, overall yellow greenish color put this bird in the Pine, Bay-breasted, Blackpoll category.  The yellow legs and feet, although not always present, are diagnostic for Blackpoll in this group.  In addition, Pine Warbler has an unstreaked back, shorter undertail coverts and longer tail and Bay-breasted usually lacks underparts streaking and has buffy undertail coverts and flanks.
