Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula), Feeding station, Old Bisbee, Cochise CountyThis
male Common Grackle was discovered and photographed by Michael Turisk on 27 November 2009
in his backyard in Old Bisbee. Common Grackle is a casual transient and winter visitant
with about a dozen records. Larger billed and longer tailed than
Brewer's Blackbird. Much smaller than Great-tailed Grackle with obvious
contrast between the purple-glossed head and bronze-glossed back and wings (at
least in the "Bronzed" form of Common Grackle which is the only one expected to
stray to Arizona). .
