Lapland Longspur (Calcarius lapponicus), Rouseau Sod Farms, Maricopa County

This Lapland Longspur was discovered and photographed by Harold Bond on 28 November 2009.

Lapland Longspur is a casual migrant and winter visitor in Arizona with fewer than 15 accepted records.  However, the Rousseau Sod Farms has been a very good place to find this species and several of the records come from there.

Rusty wing patch, dark frame on face, dark breast band and long primary projection with evenly spaced primaries.
