Black-legged Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla), Site Six, Lake Havasu, Mohave County

This Black-legged Kittiwake was discovered and photographed by Shaun Putz on 30 January 2010 and also photographed by Mark Stevenson on 31 January 2010. 

There are only a dozen previous records for Black-legged Kittiwake in Arizona and this is only the second in this century, the other being an immature at this same location in 2007.

Juvenile Black-legged Kittiwakes have a black half collar, black tail band,black bill, black spot behind eye, and M pattern on the upper wing in flight.

Note varied color of legs with "flesh" colored left leg which does occur in juv BLKI.
