Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula), Sweetwater Wetlands, Pima County

This Common Grackle was discovered and photographed by Philip Kline on 04 February 2010.

Common Grackle is a casual transient and winter visitor to Arizona with fewer than 20 records.

Purplish head and breast contrasting with bronze belly and wings. Larger bill and longer keeled tail separate this species from Brewer's Blackbird. Great-tailed Grackle has a longer tail and is a larger, more slender bird.
