Red-throated Loon (Gavia stellata), Bill Williams NWR, Lake Havasu, Mohave County

This Red-throated Loon was discovered and photographed by Shaun Putz on 30 January 2010.

Poor photo of Red-throated Loon in both Mohave and La Paz counties.

Casual winter visitor to Arizona with about 15 documented reports.  Increasingly regular in the last few years with one to two reports every year. 

Small grayish loon with white face and flanks. The small up turned bill is often held at a slight uptilted angle.
