Blue-throated Hummingbird (Lampornis clemenciae), Ventana Canyon, Pima County

This Blue-throated Hummingbird has been present in a private yard since 19 December 2010 and was photographed by Lee Daniels on 26 December 2010.

Blue-throated Hummingbird in Arizona is primarily a summer resident of the Chiricahua, Huachucha and Santa Rita mountains.  A few winter every year at feeders in these locations.  There are several summer records of Blue-throated Hummingbirds in the Santa Catalina Mountains and they are suspected of breeding there.  A few may winter occasionally in Ventana Canyon as there are a several previous winter records of them at feeders there.

Unmistakable large hummingbird with a blue throat.
