Neotropic Cormorant (Latin Name), Lynx Lake, Yavapai County

These three Neotropic Cormorants were photographed by Felipe Guerrero on 06 March 2010 at Lynx Lake today. Two of the photos show all three in the same frame with a Double-crested Cormorant for comparison.

Dr. Carl S. Tomoff lists this species as an accidental vagrant for the Prescott area. However, their frequency appears to be increasing in recent years coincident with the expansion of this species range into southern Arizona and Maricopa County.

Small, slender body, long tail, slim bill, sharply angled gular pouch with white border, etc.
