White-eared Hummingbird (Hylocharis leucotis), Beatty's Miller Canyon Guest Ranch, Cochise County

This White-eared Hummingbird was photographed by Charles Melton on 15 May 2010at the Controlled Access Site (CAS) at Beatty's Miller Canyon Guest Ranch.  White-eared Hummingbirds were first reported this year by Tom Beatty on 26 April 2010 and they have been present ever since. 

White-eared Hummingbird is a rare summer resident of the high mountain canyons of Southeastern Arizona.  Beatty's is one of the most reliable locations for this species.
