Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus), Gila Bend power plant, Maricopa County

This Eastern Kingbird was discovered by Mark Stevenson and Molly Pollock and photographed by Mark Stevenson on 08 September 2010.

Eastern Kingbird is a casual summer visitor and transient to Arizona.  It is accidental to Maricopa County, with only three records mentioned in Witzeman et al, 1996, Birds of Phoenix and Maricopa County.

Striking black and white kingbird with diagnostic white tip to the tail.  The yellow color at the gape and pale edgings on the wing covert feathers indicate this is a juvenile.
