Kentucky Warbler (Oporornis formosus), Hassayampa River Preserve, Maricopa CountyThis Kentucky Warbler was mist netted and banded at the Hassayampa
River Preserve by Anne Webster-Leight and was photographed by Cody Burkett on 14 August 2010. Kentucky Warbler is a rare transient with most records from the spring. It is very rare in Maricopa County. There is only one record listed for Maricopa County in Witzeman et al (1996), although there have been a few more since including one documented in the archives of this site here. This is also apparently the second Kentucky Warbler banded at Hassayampa River Preserve, with the other being on 18 August 2007. Yellow spectacles, dark face and uniform green upperparts render it
unmistakable.
