Sabine's Gull (Xema sabini), Glendale Recharge Ponds, Maricopa County

This juvenile Sabine's Gull was found and photographed by by Tommy DeBardeleben on 13 September 2010 at the Glendale Recharge Ponds.  It was also photographed by Steve Hosmer on 14 September 2010.

Rare but usually annual migrant through Arizona, some years with multiple records.  Most records are in the fall. 

Small gull with brownish neck and back. In flight, the Sabine's Gull has a very distinctive wing pattern.
