Dickcissel (Spiza americana), Sweetwater Wetlands, Pima County

A Dickcissel was discovered by Jerry Bock and Keith Kamper in the riverbed adjacent to Sweetwater Wetlands on 01 October 2010.  This bird, photographed in the same tree by Andrew Core on 02 October 2010, is presumably the same one.

Rare fall migrant.  Seems to be increasing. 

Dark stick shadow across face, but yellow wash on chest, chestnut shoulder, light yellow supercilium are still diagnostic.
