Pacific Wren (Troglodytes pacificus), Horton Springs, Gila County

This Western Winter Wren was discovered and photographed by Eric Hough on 26 November 2010

Rare, but regular winter visitor to the state. While Pacific Wrens are sparse, local breeders along the Mogollon Rim, it is unknown if these birds are year-round residents.

Rich ochre-brown coloration overall (including throat) and lack of white spotting on wings and back indicated Pacific Wren.

Note: Image quality due to extremely heavy noise reduction applied to these high ISO photos.
