Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope), Glendale Recharge Ponds, Maricopa County

This Eurasian Wigeon was discovered and photographed by Tommy DeBardeleben on 27 November 2010.

Eurasian Wigeons are regular on an annual basis in Scottsdale, and are casual elsewhere in the state.

Hybrids are regular between American and Eurasian Wigeons, but this is a pure Eurasian due to the pink-colored breast that contrasts with the gray sides. It also has a solid rufous head.
