Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis), Bill Williams Delta, La Paz CountyThis Long-tailed Duck was
ound by Jan Richmond on 28February 2011 and photographed by Lauren Harter on 10 March 2011. Long-tailed Duck is a rare
but regular winter visitor and migrant. Easily identifiable by white head with dark ear patches, small bill, and black-and-white body pattern. All of these points suggest an adult male in winter plumage, but the short tail feathers point to a young bird, possibly a third year male.
