Winter Wren (Troglodytes hiemalis), La Posta Quemada Ranch, Pima County

This Winter Wren was discovered by John Yerger, Keith Kamper, and Jerry Bock on 9 Feb 2011 and photographed by Andrew Core on 14 February 2011

Rare but nearly annual visitor in past years, but a surprising number of reports this winter.

Tiny and short-tailed, with distinct pale supercilium. Pale throat and chest and white spotting on back help to distinguish from Pacific Wren
