Blackpoll Warbler (Dendroica striata), Sweetwater Wetlands, Pima County

This Blackpoll Warbler was discovered by Heather Wise and Craig Lipski on 17 May 2011 and photographed by Andrew Core on 18 May 2011.

Blackpoll Warbler is a casual spring and rare fall vagrant to Arizona with about 25 records in all; most records are in the fall. This is the third at Sweetwater Wetlands since 2007.

Adult male in breeding plumage has a black cap, white cheek, black malar; throat, chest and underparts are crisp white with streaking on the sides. Legs are pale. Two white wingbars.
