Lucifer Hummingbird (Calothorax lucifer), Rio Rico, Santa Cruz County

This Lucifer Hummingbird was found by Joe Hammond at his home's feeders on 14 June 2011 and photographed by Laurens Halsey on 16 June 2011.

Recently has been regular in foothill canyons on the east slope of the Huachuca Mountains, but is a casual summer visitor elsewhere. 

Note proportionately long down-arching bill, extended gorget, wingtips falling well short of the end of tail, long tail held closed.
