Red Knot (Calidris canutus), Lake Cochise, Cochise County

This Red Knot was discovered by John Saba on 05 August 2011 and photographed by Andrew Core on 05 August 2011.

Red Knot is a casual fall transient in Arizona with 13 previously accepted records and two pending.  Its worldwide population is seriously declining. 

Stocky, medium sized shorebird with reddish underparts and stout, straight bill.
