Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor), Willcox, Twin Lakes Golf Course Pond, Cochise County

This Tricolored Heron was discovered by Dave Stejskal on 11 August 2011 and photographed by Chris Benesh on 12 August 2011.

Tricolored Heron is a casual visitor to Arizona, most often in summer. Most records, like this one, are of immatures.

Contrast between dark breast and white belly at all ages is unique among North American herons.
