Magnolia Warbler (Dendroica magnolia), Hassayampa River Preserve, Maricopa County

This Magnolia Warbler was discovered by John Arnett on 01 October 2011 and photographed by Tommy DeBardeleben on 02 October 2011.  John discovered two Magnolia Warblers on the 1st along the Palm Lake Loop at the Hassayampa River Preserve, where at least one of them was still present the following day.

Magnolia Warbler is a casual transient in Arizona, with about 30 records in all.

The tail pattern of Magnolia Warbler is diagnostic at all times, which has bright white undertail coverts with a noticable dark tipped tail. This is a first winter bird, which another field mark are two narrow white wing-bars, a plain greenish back, and a pale gray neckband in the middle of a bright yellow chin and breast continuing down to the lower belly.
