Red-necked Grebe (Podiceps grisegena), Tempe Town Lake, Maricopa County

This Red-necked Grebe was discovered by Ron Bimrose on 01 March 2012 and photographed by Brendon Grice on 02 March 2012.

Casual fall and winter visitor.  Through 2009 there were 14 accepted records, but recently there has been a dramatic increase in reports and there have been approximately 10 reports filed with the ABC since 2009. 

 Large grebe with yellow bill, white face, dark cap and dusky neck.
