Red-breasted Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus ruber), off Jack Pine Road, Forest Road 9707V, Yavapai County

This Red-breasted Sapsucker was discovered by Carl Tomoff and 05 March 2012 and photographed by Bryan Patrick on 08 March 2012.

Rare but increasingly regular winter visitor to Arizona.

Head virtually all red and back is mainly black. Lack of black breast band eliminates possible Red-naped hybrid.
