Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula), My yard in Pioneer Valley Subdivision on North side of Flagstaff, Coconino County

This Baltimore Oriole was discovered and photographed by Pam Koch on 21 May 2012.

Rare migrant.  About 20 accepted records with five more pending.  Possibly becoming more regular.  This is the third documented report to AZFO this spring.

Male first year Baltimore Oriole. Bird is bright orange and black with black hood on head that is still filling in. Black mottling to back of neck and white wing bars.  Although a little hard to judge at this state of molt, the tail, wing and face patterns are consistent with pure Baltimore Oriole and do not suggest a hybrid.
