Hooded Warbler (Setophaga citrina), Madera Canyon, Santa Cruz County

This Hooded Warbler was discovered and photographed by Tom Lawler on 18 May 2012 on the Chuparosa B&B property.

Rare transient and summer visitor with most records in the spring. A former review species, reports have increased over the last few years and there were multiple reports every year.  However, in the last couple of years, reports seem to have declined again. 

Male unmistakable.
