Mississippi Kite (Ictinia mississippiensis ), Chino Valley, Yavapai County

These Mississippi Kites were photographed by Alan Melle on 02 and 27 August 2012.

Mississippi Kites are listed as accidental vagrants in "Birds of Prescott, Arizona" by Carl S. Tomoff. This indicates five or fewer sightings since 1974. Photos of the male, female and recently fledged juvenile are being posted at Dr. Tomoff's request. These birds nested in a Chino Valley neighborhood. The photos of the juvenile were taken on 27 August 2012.
