Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea), Gilbert Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, Maricopa County

This Prothonotary Warbler was discovered and photographed by Jacob Plant on 02 September 2012 around Pond 3 at the Gilbert Water Ranch. 

Prothonotary Warbler is a rare but annual transient in the state.

Note the bright yellow head and body, prominent black eye, plain blue gray wings and the white undertail coverts and large tail spots.
