Purple Gallinule (Porphyrio martinica), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

This Purple Gallinule was discovered and photographed by H.C. Taylor on 25 August 2012 on Pond 2 of the Gilbert Water Ranch. 

Thirteen accepted records with four additional reports pending with the Arizona Bird Committee.

Immature with tan neck, yellow legs, completely white undertail coverts and hints of adult color.
