McCown's Longspur (Calcarius mccownii), Mohave Valley, Mohave County

This McCown's Longspur was discovered by Lauren Harter and David Vander Pluym and photographed by Lauren Harter on 12 January 2013.

Rare and decreasing throughout Arizona, there are very few records of this species for the Lower Colorado River Valley. One was found at this location in November 2011.

Plain-faced longspur with a large pink bill and hint of a black breast-band.
