Broad-winged Hawk (Buteo platypterus), Morgan City Wash, Maricopa County

This adult Broad-winged Hawk was discovered by Justin Jones and Troy Corman and photographed by Justin Jones on 21 April 2013. 

Casual in spring in Arizona, but increasingly reported in recent years in Arizona and throughout the western US.

Small Buteo with rufous barring below, broad black and white bands on the tail, fairly pointed wings and a light under wing with dark border.
