American Golden-Plover (Pluvialis dominica), Willcox Twin Lakes, Cochise County

This American Golden-Plover was discovered by Gary Graves 16 May 2013 and photographed by Gary Graves and John Yerger on 16 May 2013.

Very rare transient in southeastern Arizona.

Separating Pacific and American Golden-Plover can be tricky. This bird has the long wings and short tertials typical of American Golden-Plover, the expected species in Arizona.
