Harris's Sparrow (Zonotrichia querula), Himmel Park, Tucson, Pima County

This Harris's Sparrow was photographed by Pat Goltz on 02 January 2014

This review species is not common in Arizona. It was discovered by Scott Olmstead on December 29, 2013. Seen in the company of House Sparrows. Himmel Park is near Tucson Blvd and Speedway. The bird is staying near the dead end of Forgeus Avenue on the south border of the park.

Status and Distribution Information:

This is an immature male. Brownish head, forming black pattern on chest, whitish tertial edges, white belly, pink bill. Larger than other species.
