Long-tailed Duck (Clangula hyemalis), Glendale Recharge Ponds, Maricopa County

This Long-tailed Duck was discovered by Dick Porter and photographed by Gordon Karre and Magill Weber on 24 December 2013.

Rare transient and winter visitor.  Usually a few are found annually in Arizona.

Black and white duck with distinctive face pattern that varies with age, sex and plumage.
