White-winged Scoter (Melanitta fusca), Lake Havasu, Mohave County

This White-winged Scoter was found and photographed by David Vander Pluym on 14 November 2013

Rare fall migrant and winter visitor, it has returned to being annual in the state after nearly a decade of very few records.

Large heavy bodied, dark duck with contrasting white secondaries.
