Broad-winged Hawk (Buteo platypterus), Tres Rios Overbank Wetlands, Maricopa County

This Broad-winged Hawk was discovered and photographed by Jeff Ritz on 22 January 2014

Broad-winged Hawk is accidental in AZ during the winter.

Broad white tail band of adult Broad-winged Hawk is just discernable.   This is not a typical adult Broad-winged Hawk and appears to be one of the uncommon "Pale-bellied" morphs.
