Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis), Lake Montezuma, Yavapai County

This Eastern Bluebird was discovered and photographed by Vic Nelson on 27 January 2014.

Accidental in northern Arizona.  Since the 'Azure' subspecies of southeastern Arizona is regarded as resident and non-migratory, these birds would most likely be from the eastern nominate subspecies.  This is the second report this year from northern Arizona, so there may be a minor irruption of this species going on.

Orange/brown throat and sides of neck. No brown on scapulars. White belly
