Grasshopper Sparrow (Ammodramus savannarum), Holbrook, Navajo County

This Grasshopper Sparrow was found and photographed by Anita Ojeda on 14 September 2014

Very rare migrant in norhern Arizona and possibly a Navajo Co. first.

Large head and  bill, short spiky tail, complete white eye ring, lack of a dark lateral throat stripe, dark spot on auriculars, and buffy mark on supraloral help identify this as a Grasshopper Sparrow. Faint streaks on the breast indicate a first year (HY) bird.
