Fulvous Whistling-Duck (Dendrocygna bicolor), Old Hwy 80 west of Buckeye, Maricopa County

This Fulvous Whistling-Duck was found by Cynthia Donald and photographed by Steve Hosmer on 20 December 2014

Once fairly regular in Arizona, in the last several decades Fulvous Whistling Duck has been much rarer and is now a review species.

Similar to Black-bellied Whistling Duck, but overall rich tawny in color, dark gray bill and legs, black wings with cinnamon brown feather edges, white tips of elongated flank feathers which form white lines along the sides of the bird.
