Nutting's Flycatcher (Myiarchus nuttingi), Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge just west of Planet Ranch, La Paz CountyThis Nutting's Flycatcher was photographed by Eric Hough on 10 August 2015
Casual in Arizona (only 2 accepted records away from the
Bill Williams River), since at least 2011 a small
population with 5+ individuals reported in most years,
has been found in the Bill Williams River NWR and
breeding was confirmed from the Bill Williams in 2013.
Two birds were observered on this date together acting
like a pair. Possibly the same individual posted
here,
however that bird was +1KM away from this individual. ID points visible in these photographs include
the short, stout bill; bright yellow belly; rufous
extending to the tail tip; and rufous primaries blending
into cinnamon outer secondaries. Also high-pitched twittering calls
typical of the species were heard. 10 August 2015, photo by Eric Hough All photos are copyrighted© by photographer |
