Yellow-throated Warbler (Setophaga dominica), Patagonia, Santa Cruz CountyThis Yellow-throated Warbler was
found by Matt Brown on 05 December 2015 and photographed by Dennis Widman on 07 December 2015 Yellow-throated Warbler is a casual transient with about 20 records, although there has been an increase in records in the last few years. One wintered at this location last year and this is likely a returning bird. Note the yellow throat, black auriculars with white
spot behind them, and the white eyeline. This bird is of
the western D. d. albilora race.
This race has a white or pale yellow supraloral stripe
(the part of the white eyebrow near the bill) whereas
the other races of D. dominica have
bright yellow supraloral stripes. 07 December 2015, photo by Dennis Widman All photos are copyrighted© by photographer |
